The past weekend, I attended the VOGUE FESTIVAL where I had the opportunity to meet and listen the lectures of the most influential people in the fashion world as Christian Louboutin, Jean Paul Gaultier, Oliver Rousteing, creative director of Balmain and Tim Walker, one of the most influential fashion photographers of the moment.
The entire Festival was presented by Alexandra Shulman, Editor in Chief of Vogue UK.
During these conferences designers talked about their career, as they started working in the fashion world, where they find the inspiration to create their collections. It was very interesting to learn about their history and their vision.
I was very impressed when Christian Louboutin, shoes designer said that the shoe is like the face of a person, the important that the face is beautiful, then we can add the make-up to enhance it even more. But if your face is ugly, even if we add the make-up will not be able to create a beautiful face. Very particular as a comparison! I think he wanted to point out that the structure of the shoe is essential, if the shape of the shoe is beautiful and good quality then we can add more decorations, but if the structure of the shoe is not done well, it can never be a comfortable shoe or luxury .
Interesting was also when Louboutin said that early in his career as he slept in the office did not have enough money to live in an apartment.
What struck me about Jean Paul Gaultier instead is his charismatic personality! A man extremely sympathetic and self ironic!
He said that early in his career he worked for Pierre Cardin and Jean Patou.
Photographer Tim Walker and his team instead spoke of the importance of teamwork and their travel experiences. What to take a picture quality it takes hours and hours to study and choose the right location and the right time of day to get natural light perfect for the photo. Their favorite country is Japan!
The last conference that I attended, the most interesting in my opinion has been that of Oliver Rousteing, creative director of Balmain. He said that has created a revolution in the world of luxury, using an exaggerated social media and sharing lots of photos on instagram.
The Vogue Festival has certainly been a very interesting experience as well as ultra glamorous!
