Luxury Destination – CANNES

luxury destination Cannes french riviera

Cannes it’s a busy tourist destination and host of the annual Cannes Film Festival and Festival de la Plaisance, also called Yacht show.

The city is also famous for its luxury shops, restaurants and hotels. Most of the boutiques are located in rue d’Antibes and the most luxurious one as Chanel, Dior, Hermes, Bulgari and Cartier are located on the Promenade de la Croisette.

Cannes is the perfect destination for every season thanks to the Palais de Festival that organize every month a different conference.

During all summer, July and August there is the famous Festival d’Art Pyrotechnique where each weeks they do a fireworks show with music an the bay of Cannes. For the occasions the restaurant on the beach they prepare a special fireworks menu that start at minimum 60Euro until 200Euro a person

During the day the Beach clubs offers bads, parasol and water sports as ski-nautique, parachute and fly-fish.

The nightlife in Cannes is very animated with a variety of clubs and bars. The most famous one, and my favorite of course, are Baoli and Gotha Club who host special celebrity DJ and singers as David Guetta, Bob Sinclar, Swedish House Mafia, Michael Canitrot, Timati, xxx and many others.

Cannes is not only attractive for the nightlife but also for the culture and nature. In front of the bay there are two island named “ile Saint-Marguerite” and “Ile Saint-Honorat” in the first one they turn the movie “The Man in the Iron Mask” took from a real story. His cell can be visited in the Fort, named “Musée de la Mer” (Museum of the sea). Inside the museum and around the island you can find Romans and Saracen ruins drom 1st and 10th Century.

The second island Saint-Honorat is private and belongs to the Monks, the only habitants of the island. They also produce red and white wine.

Only 15 minutes form Cannes you can visit the chateau de la Napoule in Mandelieu a medieval castle.  In the opposite side you can visit  Cap d’Antibes and Villefranche-sur-mer two other beautiful location of the French Riviera. Up in the hills some others nice village to visit are Saint-Paul de Vince, very artistic and Grasse the village of parfumes.

Since 2007 Cannes becomes my annual summer destination. You can see in the links below some of my photo-diary and stories:
