Hello my dear friends and followers, it has always been my dream to visit China and it’s capital city Beijing, a big cosmopolitan city merged with with ancient history.
Beijing, as people also call it Peking is the capital of the People’s Republic of China. It is a metropolis located in northern China in proximity to Mongolia and Russia with a population of 20 million multi cultural inhabitants. During the winter time the temperature reaches below zero Celsius and the winds come blowing directly from Siberia. Beijing has been the political center of the country for much of the past eight centuries. The city is renowned for its opulent palaces, temples, gardens, tombs, walls and gates.
During this trip I had the chance to visit the 3 most important monuments in Beijing, The Forbidden City, The temple of Heaven and the Great Wall of China , The Forbidden City & Tiannamen Square,Tiannamen square has marked as a symbol of the communist revolution in China and today it stands as a symbol of the People’s Republic of China. You can see more details and photos of the Forbidden City HERE.
I also visited the Temple of Heaven that is a complex religious building where the Chinese Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties went for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvest and good fortune. To see more detail and photos of the Temple of Heave click HERE.
Of course I could not miss to see the Great Wall of China, one of the seven wonders of the world. It is the largest man made structure in the world and spans over 20,000 km / 13,000 miles long. It was built 2,000 years ago when the Emperor of Qin became the sole ruler and unified China and became it’s first Emperor, King of Kings. Click HERE to see more details and photos.
During my stay in Beijing I stayed at the Legendale Hotel the most luxurious Hotel In Beijing built to resemble the Versailles Palace. The Legendale Hotel is located in Wangfujing , the most luxurious area of Beijing and 15 minute walk to Tiannnamen Square.
Others interesting things I have seen in Beijing are the Olympic Stadium, the Jade Museum & The Pearl Museum.
The surrounding area of Wangfujing is the Chinese capital’s luxury and tourism district, international class hotels such as the Hilton, the Waldorf Astoria and the Peninsula Hotel including the most famous brands and stores in the world.
I also tried for my first time the local Pekin Duck in the famous award winning restaurant named Da-Dong, which i recommend to everyone.
Another culinary speciality to try in Beijing is the Hot pot better know as Fondue Chinoise, absolutely delicious.
There are so many more interesting things to visit and I would love to go back in Spring or Summer to visit the fabulous park and summer palace of the Empress.
