What happened during the fashion week in the British capital?

The London Fashion Week is held immediately after the New York’s one and it precedes those in Milan and Paris.

Before talking about new trends, I want to open a short parenthesis on the relationship between politics and fashion. Given the political climate of recent times, many designers have chosen to send a political message in a very creative way through their fashion shows. Listed below you’ll find a list of some of the designer who expressed their political message through their fashion show and how they did it.

Teatum Jones. He let a disabled model, Jack Eyers who has prosthetic legs, parade during the show. Nonetheless, also during the New York’s fashion shows a few designers let disabled models, also on wheel chairs, parade.

Simone Roche. He was chosen as the designer of the year. Middle-aged models paraded during his show.

Ashish Rainbow. The message that the designer wants to give is very strong and clear. The models during the show were dressed up like “Los Dias de Los Muertos”, a traditional Mexican party with clothes that bear slogans like “More glitter less Twitter” or “Love sees no color”. A real criticism of the new government of Trump.

Let’s now talk about the most impressive show of the London’s fashion week.

The collection of Antonio Berardi is very feminine and sophisticated. It’s especially appropriate to those who have a sophisticated style.

For those who wanted a more fresh and youthful style, you could be inspired by the collection of Temperley London, with tropical prints and laminated tops.

Similarly to the tropical prints, another collection that reminds me of the “holiday style” is the one of Mary Katrantzou. Her collection is embellished with jewel details. Finally, long dresses with see-coats and brightly colored are also very beautiful.

One of the top trends of this fashion week is the military style proposed by both David Koma that Simone Rocha and also by Burberry during his past collaction. David Koma proposes green army jackets, enhanced by straps and worn with high boots. The style that inspired the designer Simone Rocha is a total military uniform. In contrast to Rocha, Peter Pilotto launches a very soft and comfortable collection.

Topshop Unique offers a collection purely appropriate to a young audience, with printed sweatshirts and palazzo pants.

Versus by Versace  is a very sporty collection. The oversize duvets are very nice and remaind a little bit the Bregazzi bed cover.

He could not miss during the London Fashion Week the tartan pattern, propsed by Dacks. The Rayan collection is inspired by Sailor Moon and Molly Goddard and is offering bright and brilliant colors, recalling the style 80s.

Finally we can mention the extraordinary high quality work, n particular the beautiful capes , proposed by Burberry, with the velvet dresses and the gold details of Erdem and the wonderful shoes of Malone Souliers.
